Overview

Assembly workers assist with the overall production of Arnott’s air suspension products. Some workers are responsible for the disassembly of used materials that will later be refurbished and assembled into various parts and materials, installation units, or product, while others focus their efforts strictly on the assembly of the finished product. Assembly workers at each station perform particular tasks that contribute to the production effort.

Duties

  1. The Assembly worker completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision; she/he performs bench-type processes to complete assemblies and sub-assemblies using various hand, power, and marking tools, as well as measuring instruments; or,
  2. The worker performs bench-type processes to remove and/or disassemble parts to clean, repair, or rework them; the worker reports defective materials and supply or production problems to his or her supervisor immediately.
  3. The worker may read and interpret blueprints or diagrams and other materials to determine the type and configuration of the part assembly process and is responsible for following the appropriate build document, or in the absence of a build document, the proper document proceedure without deviation. Problems with a build document or procedure should be brought to management immediately.
  4. She/he uses proper test equipment to ensure the reliability and quality of their finished work; and, may operate pneumatic and hand tools in addition to tape measure, calipers and other quality measuring equipment.
  5. The position maintains the work area by keeping equipment clean and the work station orderly; she/he performs the required preventative maintenance on tools/equipment as required; and, follows the prescribed safety regulations for the use of equipment and chemicals (adhesives, solvents, lubricants, epoxies, paints, etc.) while performing daily tasks.
  6. The Assembler works with team members to develop process improvement methods and strives to contain costs and reduce waste.
  7. He/she contributes to a positive work environment and assists other departments or workers in order to meet production goals.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.

  • High School diploma and three months manufacturing experience; or equivalent education and/or similar experience.
  • Strong process orientation: Detail oriented, ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, diagrams, equipment operating procedures or similar materials such as safety rules that have been provided by the supplier in English is required.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Must be familiar with assembly and measuring tools and be able to perform simple shop math.
  • Requires proper use of all plant designated Personal Protective Equipment, to include but not be limited to; use of safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, dust mask, etc., as per OSHA and Arnott safety requirements.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.

Environment & Physical Activity

The environment for this position is an open production area that is subject weather conditions including extreme heat – temperatures can potentially rise to 100 degrees or more for periods of more than one hour; noise that is sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level; hazards including working close to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, exposure to chemicals and working at elevated levels. The worker may be subject to fumes, odors, dusts or mists.

In the course of performing the duties of the position the worker spends time speaking, listening, lifting (up to 35 pounds), carrying, sitting, pulling, pushing, walking, squatting, kneeling, reaching and standing for prolonged periods. There is a possibility of forklift operation as necessary.

Safety awareness and compliance with safety regulations is vital. Workers must wear special safety equipment such as masks, gloves, and safety glasses.
